All About Madeline Brewer’s Fiancé, Jack Thompson-Roylance

Actress Madeline Brewer joined the cast of You for its final season, but Netflix was also where she made her debut. Brewer played Tricia Miller on Orange Is the New Black before being cast as Miranda Cates in Hemlock Grove, another Netflix hit. However, Brewer might be best known for her role in Hulu’s The Handmaid's Tale as Janine Lindo, which is currently airing its final season. Brewer has had a very busy spring!

As her star has risen, fans have become more curious about Brewer’s personal life. In the past, she has been linked to actors Spencer Neville and Calum Worthy, and briefly to musician Nick Jonas. Brewer is now engaged to British cinematographer Jack Thompson-Roylance.

Here’s everything to know about Thompson-Roylance and his relationship with Brewer so far.

Jack Thompson-Roylance is from the U.K., where he attended the University of the Arts London, receiving a degree in Film and Television, per his LinkedIn profile. He went on to co-found Deadbeat Films in 2014, where he works as the creative director. According to his IMDb bio, the company was established with his twin, Boris, and they work on everything from commercials and music videos to feature films, TV, and documentaries, as well as live events.

Thompson-Roylance won the Spirit Award at the 2022 Raindance Film Festival for his work on Swede Caroline, and worked on Matar, a short about the lives of migrant workers that is being developed into a feature by BBC Films. Brewer attended the premiere of Swede Caroline with him in April 2024.

The couple was first linked in 2022 but did not make their red carpet debut until September 2023, at a Kensington Palace event honoring Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick.

She told Vanity Fair in April 2025 that they met on the celebrity dating app Raya.

“Everybody is, like, ‘I’ve never had any success on Raya. Raya sucks.’ I think we both just weren’t taking it very seriously, and that’s why it worked,” she said. “And I believe in soulmates. He’s my ‘soup snake,’ to quote The Office.”

In May 2024, Brewer hinted at an engagement with an Instagram post where she was wearing a ring on that finger. She suggestively captioned the pics, “fries friends fiancé in my mouth.”

The official announcement came in July 2024, with another post on Instagram featuring black-and-white photos of herself and Thompson-Roylance. She revealed that they’d been engaged since January.

“🌷a few shots from our gorgeous day with @jennyandersonphoto in the park at 73rd (where in January @deadbeatjack proposed and then we went to Bemelmans and drank martinis and I cried a lot),” she shared in the caption. “Thank you Jenny for capturing a bit of the magic of being so madly in love with your best friend that you’re gonna MARRY ’em (or maybe not if he doesn’t keep his mustache. time will tell). I love you, Jack.”

In March 2025, Brewer told People a bit about wedding planning, saying it was all “[going] great. We’re so excited.”

She added, “Wedding planning is insane, especially having two shows come out in April, but we’re getting through it.”

Brewer continued, “We get married in July. He’s English, so we’re getting married in England. Planning from across the pond is a little bit difficult, but we’re having a great time. We’re so excited. We both love a party and yeah, it’s going to be fun. It’s like we’ve got Bridgerton during the day and then Saltburn at night. Yeah. It’s going to be fun.”

The cinematographer’s career behind the camera does not include a lot of public interviews, but he has revealed a little about his relationship with Brewer on Instagram. In September 2024, he shared a few photos from their time at a fashion week event, writing in the caption, “We stayed for an hour and then had McDonald’s in bed but I did meet Lawrence Fishburne and he was a lovely chap.”

In January, he shared a revealing pic of Brewer exploring the scenery with him.

On her birthday in February, Thompson-Roylance shared professional pics of Brewer, writing in the caption, “HAPPY 🌹 DAY MY QUEEN.”
