<i>The Moment</i>: Everything We Know About Charli XCX’s New Movie
2024 lacma art+film gala arrivals

Charli XCX is in her filmmaking era. The Grammy-winning Brat singer has a new movie on the horizon: The Moment. The film, produced through her production company, Studio365, is backed by A24 and based on an original idea by Charli herself. And, of course, the cast is stacked. Here’s everything we know about The Moment so far.

What is The Moment about?

Here’s the synopsis, per Deadline:

The mockumentary feature film follows the life of a pop star in the lead-up to her first headline arena tour. The Moment gives an inside look at the inner workings of the music industry and explores how subculture is mutated by commercial success.
Who’s in the cast?

In addition to Charli, the film also stars Kylie Jenner, Rachel Sennott, Kate Berlant, Alexander Skarsgård, Rosanna Arquette, Jamie Demetriou, Arielle Dombasle, Hailey Benton Gates, Trew Mullen, Mel Ottenberg, Richard Perez, Isaac Powell, Rish Shah, Tish Weinstock, Michael Workéyè, Shygirl, and A.G. Cook. (Cook will also make original music for the film).

Who’s behind the scenes?

The Moment is directed and co-written by Aidan Zamiri (who directed Charli’s music videos for “360” and “Guess” featuring Billie Eilish). Bertie Brandes, the founder of the former print magazine Mushpit, will also co-write the script.

What has Charli said about The Moment?

In her November 2025 Vanity Fair cover story, Charli called the film a “2024 period piece.” She continued, “It’s not a tour documentary or a concert film in any way, but the seed of the idea was conceived from this idea of being pressured to make one. It’s fiction, but it’s the realest depiction of the music industry that I’ve ever seen.”

She also described her character as “sort of a hell version of myself.”

When will The Moment be released?

The Moment will be released in theaters sometime next year; an exact date hasn’t been announced yet.

Can I watch a teaser?

Yes, Charli has revealed the official teaser. We don’t get to see anyone in character, but a remixed version of Charli’s song’s “I Love It” with Icona Pop plays over a rapid slideshow of the film’s credits, including the director and its stars. (Heads up: the teaser contains strobing light which could cause seizers).
