Meghan Markle Shares Why She’s Confident Her Love With Prince Harry Will Last a Lifetime

Meghan Markle Shares Why She’s Confident Her Love With Prince Harry Will Last a Lifetime
preview for 8 Times Meghan Markle Channeled Princess Diana’s Style

Nearly nine years into their relationship, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have never been more in love. During her first podcast interview on The Jamie Kern Lima Show, the Duchess of Sussex opened up about their journey together. When Jamie Kern, a close friend of Meghan, asked if she believes she and Harry will “be married forever,” Meghan responded without hesitation, “Yes.” She added with a smile, “He’s also a fox, if you haven’t noticed. My husband’s very, very handsome. But his heart is even more beautiful.”

She shared with Kern that she and Harry are deeply in love, emphasizing the strength of their bond. “There’s something that is not to be taken for granted when you have a partner and a spouse who is just so behind you,” Meghan explained. “You know, I mean, H, that man loves me so much. And you know, look what we built. We’ve built a beautiful life, and we have two healthy, beautiful children, [Archie and Lilibet]. And you know, I always think about it like the end of Super Mario Brothers when you get to the final, final level. And what’s the goal in Super Mario? They’re like, slay the dragon, save the princess. I’m like, that’s my husband....He’s just going to do whatever he can to make sure that our family is safe and protected, and we’re uplifted and still make time for date nights.”

Meghan shared that while she and Harry are currently thriving, their relationship began under intense pressure. “You have to imagine at the beginning, everyone is like butterflies, and then we immediately went into the trenches together, right out of the gate—like six months into dating,” she said, referring to when their relationship first became public in November 2016.

Now, seven years later, with some distance from those early challenges, Meghan says they’ve found a new rhythm. “When you have a little bit of breathing space, you can just enjoy each other in a new way. And that’s why I feel like it’s more of a honeymoon period for us now.”

Meghan also shared the origin of the nicknames “H” and “M” that she and Harry affectionately use for each other. The shorthand began early in their relationship, during a time when their romance was still under wraps. “Probably at the beginning of us dating, when everything was in code,” she recalled. “People didn’t know we were dating for—talk about memory lane. I mean, it’ll be our seven-year wedding anniversary soon. I couldn’t tell anyone who I was dating and he was keeping [it secret], so I think we were just on a letter basis. And then it stuck.”
