We are officially well into the fall-winter 2025, which means it’s time to upgrade our kicks rotation with the best sneaker trends of the season.

When we looked at spring-summer sneaker trends this year, we noticed a lot of retro styles popping up, along with flatter styles, often inspired by sports like taekwondo and ballet, also taking over. For fall and winter, we are still seeing many of those styles trending, but bigger and bolder silhouettes are also pushing through the noise to combat the declining temperatures. (Nobody wants cold feet, both literally and figuratively!)

If you want to spruce up your sneaker rotation with new styles that we have been seeing on celebs, fashion weeks, and beyond, keep reading for the 12 key sneaker trends that will be everywhere in the coming months.

1. Skater-inspired silhouettes

If you grew up in the ‘00s, then you’d know skater-inspired sneakers were the OG sneakers. Low-top silhouettes with a bulky body are coming back, thanks to styles like the adidas Campus, which have Bad Bunny’s and BLACKPINK member Rosé's stamp of approval. If you want to be even more faithful to the Y2K shoe trend, you can never go wrong with DC shoes or Etniesjust ask Billie Eilish!

2. Taupe

Low-profile suede sneakers, like the Puma Speedcat, are still all the rage, but instead of black or red, make your choice a little bit more autumnal by going for a taupe or chocolate brown colorway. Styling is key here — you can keep it simple or make them pop that bit extra with crisp white socks and color-matched elements in the rest of your ‘fit — think jackets, sweatshirts, t-shirts…. Adidas’s Samba OG, like pictured, is a great option, but so are Nike Cortez or even a coveted Wales Bonner collab if you can get your hands on one. For a more affordable take, consider taking a page from Selena Gomez’s book and browsing Steve Madden, too. If you feel extra spendy, Dries Van Noten has some pretty timeless taupe options at the moment.

A style that has slowly but surely been resurfacing among fashion week attendees and models is sneakers with air chambers, which merge a futuristic vibe with Y2K aesthetics. Think Nike Vapor Maxes or Shoxs. What’s great about these styles is that they are not only a statement but also extra supportive, making them ideal if you spend a lot of time on your feet.

4. Sport shoes

This Hailey Bieber outfit is the epitome of coziness for fall and winter, and, of course, it’s rounded off by a pair of classic dad sneakers. New Balance is royalty in this category, offering multiple styles in an array of colors that prioritize comfort and style. Other great brands for running shoes are ASICS and Saucony.

Back in August, we already reported that Adidas Superstars were making a comeback this year, and we stand by it. Cosigned by the likes of Stray Kids and KATSEYE’s Manon, this classic style is forever a safe bet, but especially in the fall and winter, thanks to its rubber toe, which makes them extra-rainproof.

Salomon sneakers have been massively popular over the last couple of years, and that’s not stopping any time soon — I mean, even Belly from The Summer I Turned Pretty has a couple of pairs. If you don’t already own a pair and want to see what the hype is all about, but also make sure you stand out in a sea of technical hiking shoes, then opting for a colorful model instead of the classic muted colorways is the way to go this season.

7. Chunky soles

Though flatter styles have been taking over platforms, chunky soles are not going anywhere this season. However, think wider instead of taller. 3D-esque sculptural soles are a good way to tap into this fashion trend. Though Balenciaga has plenty of styles that best illustrate this trend, you can also find more affordable options in places like Lacoste.

8. All black

All black technical sneakers have become more and more popular. Available from an array of brands at multiple price points, these sneakers are almost the “joker” card of shoes, always coming in handy when you don’t know what to wear or what the day will bring, but you know you want it to be simple and extra comfy.

Let’s face it, during fall and winter, we all tend to dress a little more monochromatic, and a good way to add a pop of color to your outfit is with colorful sneakers. Pink seems to be a particularly popular choice, with the Nike Field General and the adidas Gazelle leading the charge.

11. Heeled

Heeled sneakers are still coming in hot for those daring enough to make a bold statement. While sneaker wedges are the most popular choice, gaining the Gen Alpha stamp of approval by way of North West, you can also channel an ever more traditional high heel silhouette if you want all eyes on your feet. Lacoste has great runway-approved options if you are up for the latter!

12. Colorful laces

One way to easily breathe new life into your sneaker collection without buying new shoes is laces. Colorful laces have been spotted all over fashion weeks around the world. Miu Miu’s New Balance collab is certainly the inspiration, but they don’t have to stop there. Get your old adidas Sambas or Air Force 1s and switch out the laces for an affordable pop of fun. Basically, any pair of lace-up shoes will do!
