All the Best Gadgets You Need for a Good Night's Sleep

All the Best Gadgets You Need for a Good Night's Sleep

Most High Tech Sleep Mask

Sleep Mask
Pros
  • Great blackout mask
  • Massage is gentle, perfect for before bed
  • Just low tech enough for everyone to enjoy
Cons
  • Not as many therapy options as the Smart Goggles

You probably have your fair share of shitty sleep masks. The ones you got from international flights or cheap on an Amazon sale just don't do the trick of fully blocking out the light when you need it most. This blackout mask from Therabody does, and it gives you three different massage patterns to choose from to gently easy you to bed.

We put this in our Sleep Awards as the best sleep mask and we stand by it. Here's a short bit of what we had to say:

"The SleepMask has been the product we use most. That’s because it’s fool-proof simple. First, it blocks out 100 percent of light, which is better than any beauty-focused sleep mask. Second, the rhythmic vibrations lull us to sleep better than white noise ever could. For sleeping in strenuous circumstances—on a plane, in a weird time zone, or during the day after a night shift full of PEDs—nothing gets us there like a Therabody SleepMask. It’s just the right amount of tech to sleep with."

Best Wearable for Sleep Tracking

Ring Gen 4
Pros
  • Still the best smart ring for daily use
  • So comfortable you forget its there
  • Excellent sleep analytics and data
Cons
  • Requires annual subscription

I've tried wearing a lot of fitness trackers to bed. The Apple Watch is great, but even that gets bulky and even the Whoop band is not as easy as the smart ring. Among them, the Oura Ring is still the champ in my book. It's a supremely comfortable sleep tracker and, if you pay for the subscription, you will get access to a ton of data you didn't even know you wanted.

Sleep is just a part of your entire health picture. I've found the Oura ring and app great for daily tracking, and good enough for workout and activity tracking. But when it all lives together with data on how I slept it provides a clearer, more holistic view of my health than any of these other gadgets.

Plus
Pros
  • Helps relax your mind and body for sleep
  • Portable and rechargeable
  • Great for day time use as well
Cons
  • Expensive
  • Easy to do the wrong way

If you ever feel like you need a mental massage, Truvaga has the gadget for you. The Truvaga Plus is a portable device that pairs with a phone app for two-minute sessions of vagus nerve stimulation.

Basically, you put it to your neck and it massages your vagus nerve, which ideally leads to better sleep. And it's a sleep aid you don't have to leave at home. It's USB-C rechargeable and you can take it with you wherever you go. If you're like me, this is going to turn into a nightly routine in no time.

Therabody Smart Goggles
Smart Goggles
Pros
  • Everything the sleep mask does
  • Plus heat and vibration therapy
  • Built-in biometric sensor
Cons
  • You'll need to take them off before you drift off

Smart glasses might be popping off, but you can miss me with that any day. Instead, I'll take a pair of these Smart Goggles from Therabody and get nightly, personalized relaxation therapy before bed.

This is like a beefed-up version of the Sleep Mask, able to provide massage therapy using vibration and heat. It's honestly worth owning one if you get frequent headaches or migraines. That's why we started using it. But in our research, we've found that it can be one of the single most relaxing things to do before you sleep. It helps lower your heart rate and massages you to sleep.

Loop Quiet 2 Ear Plugs
Quiet 2 Ear Plugs
Pros
  • Super affordable option
  • Comfortable
  • Natural sound reduction
Cons
  • Just earplugs!

Tech doesn't need to charge or have an app to be good or useful. Low tech is still technology, as long as its something you can't make by hand yourself. Case and point—the Therabody sleep mask is our most used item on this list and it's one of the least hi-tech.

Humans have been sleeping without that stuff for years and sometimes a more natural approach is best. So the sound of a busy highway, snoring partner, or noisy roommate, is all that's stopping you from getting a good night's sleep you don't need a fancy solution. You need Loop Quiet ear plugs.

Loop makes great active earplugs for concerts and events, but these are the ones geared towards sleepers. I don't need to expound a whole lot upon them—they are simply really good earplugs. I was in countless living situations throughout my 20s where a pair of these would have done wonders.

Most Comfortable Earbuds To Sleep In

Sleepbuds
Pros
  • User-friendly app with tons of white noise options
  • Can also play music
  • Comfortable, weightless fit
Cons
  • Charging case is buggy and inconsistent
  • Not the highest quality Bluetooth audio

Earbuds were not meant to be slept in, until now. There's nothing else quite like the Ozlo Sleepbuds out there yet, but still I have mixed feelings. They fit snugly and feel comfortable (and non-invasive) enough to sleep in. I genuinely enjoy the variety of white noise sounds on the app—and by enjoy I mean they put me right to sleep every single time. If you're used to sleeping in headphones already, maybe give these a shot.

For what they cost, the Sleepbuds do have some annoying quirks. The charging case seems pretty poorly designed, and often it won't do its job. The worst feeling is connecting and seeing one of your buds is out of charge despite putting it in the case. And this happens on a somewhat frequent basis—knowing if your buds will be charged is a bit of a coin flip.

They do have the ability to work like regular Bluetooth headphones. But when you use them to play music, the sound quality is pretty middling.

Rest Kit
Pros
  • Scent and vibration based relaxtion
  • Helps with steady, deep breathing
  • Includes 30 day supply of capsules and travel pouch
  • No app required
Cons
  • You have to keep buying capsules

If you struggle with anxious thoughts or need a meditation app before bed, try Lunette instead. This is a handheld device that you place on your chest, using its vibrations to help guide you to a peaceful sleep. It's more fun than Headspace and smells better too. Seriously, the scent is part of the therapeutic quality of the device—and the starting pack comes loaded with six pods that will last you a month or so.

I was skeptical at first, but I'll be honest and say the combination of the soothing scents and the calming vibrations work pretty well at getting me calm. There's no phone app or anything, just load in the capsule and press the big button. I personally love this approach because I'm trying to use my phone less before bed—not more.

While you will have to start buying more capsules at some point, it's a pretty nice starter package for $130 and even makes a thoughtful gift.

Smart Sleep Headband
Pros
  • You don't actually sleep with it on
  • Backed by clinicians
  • Sleek app with tons of data
Cons
  • Actual impact is hard to measure
  • Paid membership required

The Somnee headband is definitely the most futuristic gadget on here and for that it gets a pass for its faults. Although insomniacs on Reddit swear by it, I'm not entirely sure how much it helps me sleep. I generally get good sleep, and this is designed for people who don't. Just know results will be subjective, but if you are an insomniac willing to try a new, fun solution Somnee might make you excited to go to sleep at night (and not in a depression way).

It's okay, you don't actually have to sleep with this thing on. Instead you wear it for about 15 minutes (session length varies) and it sends a very low current to your brain. Crazy, I know. In practice you don't feel much, except for sleepy.

There is an absolute ton of data to read into here, especially if you use the Somnee continually night after night. It shows detailed trends over time and personalizes its rhythms to match your brain. Once again, I know how crazy all this sounds but in practice it all feels pretty natural. If you truly can't sleep, or just want the most info possible on your sleep, Somnee is worth a shot.

Best Air Purifier for Better Sleep

ComfortPure 3-in-1 T10i
Pros
  • A reliable, functional air purifier
  • Keeps the room the right temp as well
  • Blends into the background of the room
Cons
  • App is required unless you want to use the dinky remote control

Sometimes what you actually need to get better sleep is temperature control and clean air. The difference between a good night of sleep and tossing and turning could be less than one degree of body temperature. The Blueair ComforPure helps keep your room at the perfect temp, all while removing the particles from your air that previously kept you up coughing all night.

In our 2025 Home Awards. we had to give it up for this all-in-one air purifier. Here is a short summary of our praise:

"We’ve tried a lot of air purifiers. Time and time again, Blueair remains our favorite brand... Although we’ve tried other devices that attempt the same, no one does it this well, all matched up with a perfect operating system and a sleek, small look. You barely notice it’s even there, but the impact it makes is huge."

I'm a tech-obsessed commerce writer on a team of the most knowledgable editors in the biz. If there’s one person you want weighing in on sleep gadgets, it’s me. I perform heavy research and testing to make sure the gadgets we award, from wireless headphones to laptops to power tools, are the ones we’d spend our own money on.
