Forum Members React to Maria Grazia Chiuri Exiting Christian Dior as Creative Director

Rumors have been circulating for months that Maria Grazia Chiuri was to exit Christian Dior as creative director. Today, the speculation has become a reality, as Dior announced the end of their creative partnership. The Italian designer became the first female creative force behind the renowned French fashion house in 2016. For almost a decade, MGC’s vision has granted the LVMH-owned house a record-breaking amount of growth, given a mix of commercially successful products (like the Dior Book Tote), feminist-driven storytelling, and the celebration of global craftsmanship. On Tuesday, Maria Grazia Chiuri ventured back to her hometown of Rome to stage the Christian Dior Cruise 2026 collection (ultimately her last). Back in April, Jonathan Anderson was announced as Kim Jones’ successor at Dior Men. Rumors remain rampant within the industry that the British designer is also to succeed MGC. Stay tuned.

“Well… that’s happened. I can’t say I’m excited by the prospect of Jonathan Anderson at Dior, having never been a fan, but I guess it’s exciting to be able to anticipate a change at last. Maybe it’ll be good, who knows. I do wonder where she might go next.” [aracic]
“Never want to see anyone out of a job, but I am beyond thrilled over today’s announcement. For me, Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Dior campaigns were the absolute worst – not the collections. Season after season, every campaign was just so dreadful, so boring, and so mundane. Very much excited to see what’s next for Dior!” [vogue28]
