Forum Members Review the ‘So Stupid It Hurts’ Marc Jacobs Fall 2025 Collection

Fresh off the heels of Menswear Paris Fashion Week, Marc Jacobs staged a surprise show in New York. Always a one to resort to showing off-calendar, the celebrated American designer returned to the New York Public Library. Just as he did last season, Jacobs staged his Fall 2025 collection within the historic halls of the NYC landmark for some Monday maximalism. Titled “Beauty,” the avant-garde and larger-than-life collection consisted of only 19 looks. The collection was packed full of cocooned sculpture-like silhouettes, oversized bows, floral prints, gossamer lace, and was showcased by the likes of Alex Consani, Penelope Ternes, and Sascha Rajasalu as names like Julia Fox, Nicky Hilton, and KiKi Layne sat perched on the front row.

“Whatever this era is, it’s tiring at this point.” [youthinasia]
“Beyond tired of Marc and his CDG/RO-inspired era. He does his best when Miuccia is in his moodboard.” [THD96]
“Marc Owens Theyskens des Garçon.” [pradn]
“It’s so stupid it hurts.” [FashionFanatico]
“I think he is just doing this out of boredom. He is super rich, in prime time, legendary to some extent and without „higher purpose” aka deadlines, responsibilities, fashion weeks etc. Too much time in your hands and that’s the nonsense he is coming up with. I think we’re wasting his talent here – give him a real, stressful but fulfilling job!” [Olaffo]
“For me, this is Balenciaga by Christian Siriano.” [VicTebis]
“I really don’t mind if he wants to crazy and experimental at this stage of his career. The problem is that it doesn’t look like he has anything meaningful to say. These collections are not pushing anything forward, they’re not even fun. It feels like he’s just doing it for the sake of it. I don’t see much passion in these clothes. I don’t feel much at all.” [Marc10]
