Prince Harry has sparked fury after making a large donation to a UK children's charity. The Duke of Sussex, 40, touched down in the UK earlier in the week, marking his first visit since losing a legal battle over his security in the country.

During his visit, Harry attended the WellChild Awards, a charity event celebrating the courage of seriously ill children and their carers. He also laid down a wreath for his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II on the third anniversary of her death.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry has made headlines after donating £1.1 million of his own money to Children in Need. The hefty sum will be used to support grassroots organisations, primarily in Nottingham, working to help young people impacted by violence.

On Wednesday's (September 10) instalment of Good Morning Britain, it was questioned whether the gesture was truly genuine as they put out a poll.

They asked: "Prince Harry has made a personal donation of £1.1m to a UK children's charity. Harry said he hoped it would help "changemakers in the city continue their mission to create safe spaces", but critics are calling it a charm offensive. Do you think this donation is genuine?"

At the time of writing, 49.9% had voted yes, while 50.1% had voted no.

Regardless, Harry's personal donation has sparked outrage as fans flocked to social media to slam the Duke, with many claiming he did it for attention.

One wrote: "Given many families are struggling across the U.K., him flashing his cash makes him a patronising attention seeking poshie in my eyes."

"He didn’t need to publicise it," a second claimed as a third echoed: "Saying it and actually doing it are two different things It’s all a big PRstunt he’s come with his begging bowl to the bank of dad."

A fourth weighed in: "Prince Harry should have kept the amount he donated to this charity private. No wonder the @RoyalFamily don't trust him when he can't do things discreetly."

Another agreed: "If he was genuine then he could have kept it quiet… why publicise it. Many other ‘famous’ people give to charities without it being spread all over the media!"

Others jumped to defend Harry, with several highlighting the importance of the charity receiving the huge donation.

"Harry donates £1.1m to a children’s charity and it’s a ‘charm offensive.’ Meanwhile MPs hand billions to their mates and it’s called ‘business," one fumed.

Echoing this, a second said: "Give it a rest , genuine or not he is helping a community to keep Thor children’s away from harm and for a better future."

Another begged people to "give him a break" while somenoe else declared: "A donation is a donation."
