How Zoë Kravitz & Lisa Bonet Almost Lost Snake in Taylor Swift's House

How Zoë Kravitz & Lisa Bonet Almost Lost Snake in Taylor Swift's House
All the Easter Eggs Taylor Swift Hid In Her New Heights Appearance

Snakes and stones never broke Taylor Swift's bones.

That's why Zoë Kravitz was mortified when her mom Lisa Bonet's snake Orpheus got loose in the "You Need to Calm Down" singer's home.

As the Big Little Lies star put it, they were "in a little bit of a pickle" when that happened during a temporary stay at Taylor's place amid the L.A. wildfires earlier this year.

"We ended up having to stay there for about two weeks," Zoë shared on the Aug. 12 episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers, "and Taylor has this beautiful house—it's from the '30s, something you want to preserve and take care of."

Explaining how she likes to "leave places better than I found them," the 36-year-old said she was tidying up when Lisa informed her that Orpheus had escaped after she had put the slithery pet down "for a second."

Next thing she knew, Orpheus had crawled into a blank space in the corner of the bathroom.

"The hole is next to a banquette that is built into the wall," Zoë explained, sharing that she opened the bathroom door to find Lisa crouched over the corner "holding the snake's tail."

After failing to pull the snake out from the hole, the mother-daughter duo ended up having to call the manager of Taylor's house, who suggested removing the banquette to retrieve the reptile.

"I was like, 'Either we destroy her bathroom or I have to tell her that there's a snake somewhere in her house,'" Zoë reasoned, before sheepishly admitting that she and Lisa, 57, ultimately "destroyed" the banquette to get Orpheus out.

"We're ripping up the tile. We're scratching the walls," she recalled. "I said to her house manager, 'Obviously, I'm gonna pay for everything to be fixed. Please just don't say anything until it's fixed.'"

But just when Zoë thought she was out of the woods, it turns out that Taylor, 35, knew all too well about the mishap.

"I remember calling her saying, 'Hey, I wanted to talk to you about something,'" Zoë added. "And she was like, 'Is it the fact that you almost lost a snake in my house and destroyed my bathroom?'"

The actor has worked with the Wu-Tang Clan rapper on several movies, including The Man with the Iron Fists, American Gangster and The Next Three Days. But their bond goes much deeper than that. "As friends, we talk," Crowe tells Fuse. "It is no effort for me to give a friend advice. Film has many gods and you have to understand, as a director, you will be required to please and appease them all."

Before running into each other again at Wimbledon, the unlikely duo first crossed paths at the Downton Abbey set. "She actually came on-set with her brother, James, a few years ago," Dockery told E! News."They are good fans of the show."

You might not expect the hunky thespian to be close with the dude from Superbad, but look at it this way: Brad is a total prankster (says Jonah) and Jonah is now a serious Oscar nominee (for their film Moneyball).
