Kate Spade Celebrates Astrology, Girlhood, and Friendship With Charli D’Amelio and Ice Spice

Teen Vogue and Kate Spade came together Tuesday night for Cosmic Clique: An astrological party at San Vicente to celebrate friendships written in the stars, hosted by Charli D’Amelio and Ice Spice. Nestled in Manhattan’s West Village, the intimate evening featured everything from tarot card reading with Lisa Stardust, to aura-reading photo moments and, of course, lots of dancing. It was all about seeing the best in each other, differences and all, and honoring the friends (and the bags) who are always there for us through life’s many surprises.

“Growing up in New York, Kate Spade was always a household name for me. It was one of those staple brands I would always see,” Ice tells Teen Vogue. “I didn’t really have go-to bags as a kid, just little toy princess [ones] from the store. But I used to always play around with my mom’s bags and that meant a lot to me. [I would] dance around her room and it was so entertaining for her,” the musician shares of her fondest memories.

“We would all have our purses, our princess dresses, and our princess high heels,” D’Amelio says of her own childhood friends. “As I’m getting older now, me and my friends, we all swap. We wear each other’s clothes, each other’s bags. I feel like that is friendship now.”

The nostalgia and shared experiences of girlhood and closet-swaps have certainly not gone away, they've just transformed and taken on new meaning for both Ice and D'Amelio. “As far as the Kate Spade bag goes, literally my friends are wearing mine right now, which I think is so fun. We all have our little Deco bags,” D’Amelio explains. Featuring quilted detailing and sleek hardware, the mini shoulder bag was the star of the evening. “There’s so much girl power, so much support, [and] love within Kate Spade that it just felt like the perfect place for me to celebrate while I’m in this chapter of my life,” the & Juliet actress says of the campaign, especially as she navigates life and making new friends in New York City. After all, what better way to celebrate friendship than by sharing purses?
