The co-stars of The Chase are known for their boisterous banter with each other, the contestants, and especially Bradley Walsh. But now one of the stars of the ITV show, Darragh Ennis, has shared that there is actually another, much more caring side to the cast members, who are also good friends off-screen.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk at one of his quiz nights, in Southport's Atkinson theatre, Darragh admitted: "The WhatsApp group is incredibly supportive, so when we are recording, we post a little message about how we played and the high target of the day or whatever. The response is always ‘well done’ and if you have a bad day, it’s ‘commiserations’ and asking that you’re ok."

He added: "Considering our personas are so menacing, we are actually all really nice to each other." Speaking more about the Chasers' relationship with Brad, Darragh added: "Brad is our friend, but he’s not on our side. He genuinely wants the contestants to win, he really does.

"On the regular show, he comes out and meets the contestants and says, ‘I am on you’re team, we’re going to beat The Chasers’. He is always delighted, not because he wants us to lose but because he wants them to win."

Darragh also shared that he has extra admiration for one of his fellow Chasers in particular - Paul Sinha. He admitted that 'The Sinnerman' would beat any of them, hands down, saying: "Even including myself, [the best] is Paul Sinha. I am an egomaniac, I think I am brilliant and I always have. But Paul was the number one ranked in quiz.

"He beat Kevin Ashman, from The Eggheads. If you don’t understand quiz, Kevin Ashman is the best British quizzer of the last 50 years. He is epically good, and Paul beat him. Paul is better than any of us, the rest of us are not even close."

The quizzer recently invited live audiences across the nation to take part in his Ultimate Pub Quiz tour. He put on six shows, with visits to Barnard Castle, Sheffield, Bedford, Liverpool, Southport and Manchester, with tickets costing £20 which also included a meet and greet with the star himself.

The nights, which were full of banter, were led by Darragh who hosted multiple rounds of questions spanning general knowledge, pop culture, history, and more. Customers can sign up to the mailing list to hear about future pub quiz dates. An Ireland tour is to be announced in September, followed by an extended UK run in Spring 2026.
