Netflix has at last unveiled its full line-up of brand new releases set to grace screens this month, with a host of original content hitting the streaming service.

This includes a chilling true crime documentary series, a Slow Horses lover's dream and a dark comedy starring Julianne Moore and Kevin Bacon. Here are five shows you won't want to miss when they drop in May.

Netflix is bringing this chilling tale directly to your device as it shares the brutal story of a millionaire murderess willing to slay one of her "best friends" for cold hard cash. Viewers will be transfixed with horror over the story of the late Spanish fashion designer Ana Páez – and the mysterious grisly end she came to will have you on the edge of your seats.

This brand new 2025 Netflix original, titled Angi: Fake Life, True Crime, looks at the incredible story of how Angi, also known by the name of María Ángeles Molina, was charged for the murder and then impersonation of her supposedly close friend. The crime seemed to be financially motivated, with Angi taking out loans and insurance policies in the deceased's name to the tune of a million euros.

That was after drugging and suffocating her defenceless former friend with a plastic bag and using semen samples she'd acquired from brothel workers to frame innocent men for the murder instead. The real-life element is simultaneously horrifying and fascinating, and you'll be left wondering how anyone could stoop so low. The show lands on Netflix on May 1.

Calling all British crime fans, Dept Q follows a brash but brilliant cop who becomes head of a new police department, where he leads an unlikely team in solving Edinburgh's cold cases.

An adaptation of the novels of the same name by Danish author, Jussi Adler-Olsen, the series follows Carl Morck, a detective who is tasked with setting up Department Q after an attack leaves his partner paralysed and another policeman dead.

If you love Apple TV's Slow Horses, this will be one to add to your list on May 29.

Also new for 2025 is Why I Dress Up For Love, a Japanese drama series featuring "an introverted woman’s journey into love and self-expression".

The subject matter is more light-hearted and relatable, tracking the journey of a woman who finds love where and when she least expects it.

This unmissable drama will be available to watch from May 1.

Also hitting Netflix on May 1 is The Four Seasons, a series adapted from a 1981 film of the same name.

It follows a group of three married couples whose annual holidays together take a very different tone when one couple splits, and the man brings a new, much younger, lover with him instead of his wife.

The complications and tensions that arise afterwards as friendships are explosively turned upside down will make it another must-see for May.

With all of these series coming up, viewers will be looking forward to curling up on the sofa on spring evenings and immersing themselves in the action.
