JetBlue’s Europe Frustrations and Train Ambitions

JetBlue president Marty St. George said he was worried about increasing consolidation in the airline industry as the carrier has faced hurdles in growing its Europe network.
“Will we have sort of an even competitive marketplace over there?” St. George said at the Skift Transatlantic Summit on Wednesday. “And that's been a challenge. I mean, we fought very, very hard to get in Amsterdam. We've been trying to get into Lisbon without success. You know, Heathrow was not a great schedule, but we're in at least.”
St. George said competing against much larger airlines has made it difficult for JetBlue to enter markets in Europe. In Lisbon, for example, JetBlue has been requesting slots at Humberto Delgado Airport since 2023, but those requests have been denied.
