New Trump Travel Ban: Citizens of 12 Countries Barred Entry to U.S.

In his last term in office, President Trump had a ban on travel to the U.S. that faced legal hurdles because it targeted Muslim-majority nations. The newest travel ban on a dozen countries appears designed to withstand many legal challenges.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order Wednesday that would "fully restrict" entry into the U.S. of nationals from 12 countries, and partially restrict entry to those from seven others.

The countries facing the most severe restrictions are: Afghanistan, Burma (Myanmar), Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen.

The order is set to take effect on June 9.

Entry will be limited to those from Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela.
