Clara Brugada promises punishment for those responsible for the Ximena and José case.

MEXICO CITY — Family and friends of Ximena Guzmán and José Muñoz, collaborators of Mayor Clara Brugada, received a posthumous tribute one month after her murder. The ceremony was held privately at the Mexico City Museum in the Historic Center , where dozens of people entered with floral arrangements.

Access was restricted to members of the capital's cabinet, including Alejandro Encinas , Secretary of Planning, Territorial Development, and Metropolitan Coordination, and César Cravioto , Secretary of Government.

Luisa María Alcalde Luján , national leader of Morena, and Martha Ávila, president of the Board of Directors of the local Congress, were also seen. Once the guests entered, just after 12 noon yesterday, the museum's doors were closed.

The head of government also attended the ceremony, entering through the back door of the building and avoiding comment. Mexican singers Regina Orozco and Fernando Rivera Calderón participated in the memorial, opening the tribute with the song "Yo vengo a elegir mi corazón" (I Come to Offer My Heart) by Argentine Fito Páez.

Before the tribute, at a public event, Clara Brugada stated that the work for justice has not stopped "like in any other case" in the City.

"Today marks one month since the attack on our colleagues José Muñoz and Ximena Guzmán. Since then, we have not stopped working for justice, like no other case in this city," he stated.

Leading the distribution of aid for men in Mexico City at the Zócalo, Clara reiterated her commitment to ensuring there will be no impunity. “To their families, their loved ones, and all of society, we reiterate our commitment. There will be no impunity, and we will continue to act firmly and responsibly so that this crime does not go unpunished,” she said.
