Dodgers to donate $1 million to immigrants in Los Angeles

In response to the recent immigration raids in Los Angeles and the scandal surrounding the alleged appearance of ICE agents at one of their recent games, the Dodgers announced it will provide financial assistance to affected immigrant families.
With a million dollar boost, the current Major League Baseball champions in the United States broke their silence regarding the detention operations of undocumented people ordered by Donald Trump.

"What's happening in Los Angeles has had a profound impact on thousands of people , and we've heard the calls for us to take a leadership role on behalf of those affected," Dodgers president Stan Kasten said in a statement Friday.
"We believe that by committing resources and taking action , we will continue to support and empower the communities of the greater Los Angeles area," he added.
The team reported that the funds will go toward "direct financial assistance for immigrant families impacted by recent events in the region" and that they will soon be releasing additional announcements with local community and labor organizations that support families experiencing food insecurity, providing basic goods and mental health services .
In partnership with the City of Los Angeles, the Dodgers have committed $1 million toward direct financial assistance for families of immigrants impacted by recent events in the region. Additional community efforts to be announced in the coming days.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass welcomed the popular franchise's commitment.
"These past few weeks have unleashed a wave of fear that has spread throughout every neighborhood and has had a direct impact on our economy," Bass said in a statement.
