Red alert for rain: overflowing ravine, closed roads, power outages, and suspended classes
The extratropical storm affecting the east of the country, with a red alert level (extreme risk) due to torrential rains , has already caused its first damage, with the overflowing of the La Saleta ravine in Aldaia (Valencia) , power outages in the province of Tarragona and the suspension of classes in educational centers in Valencia and Catalonia.
Heavy rainfall, even locally very heavy and persistent, with significant accumulations, is expected in large areas of the eastern third of the peninsula. It is also likely in Alboran, and other regions of Andalusia and the Balearic Islands are also possible.
The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) has reported that eight roads are closed to traffic as a result of the flooding: three in the Valencian Community, three in Catalonia, and two in Aragon.
- In the province of Valencia , traffic is completely closed due to flooding on the CV-472, from kilometer 7.9 near Los Corrales to kilometer 8.29 in Las Cuevas; the CV-395 in both directions, from kilometer 17 in Chera to kilometer 27 in the town of Sot de Chera; and the CV-429 highway, from kilometer 16 in Yatova to kilometer 28 in Hortunas.
- In Catalonia , the C-12 between Amposta and Tortosa, the TV-3314 between Godall and Ulldecona, and the TV-3311 between Santa Bàrbara and la Sénia (Tarragona) were closed during the early hours of Monday because they are flooded, according to a message from the Civil Protection of Catalonia in 'X' collected by Europa Press.
- Meanwhile, in Aragon , the A-2306 highway near Azuara (Zaragoza) is closed to traffic from kilometer 35.72 to kilometer 33 in both directions due to flooding. The TE-V-1703 highway near Vinaceite (Teruel) is also closed from kilometer 3.6 to kilometer 3.8.
Among the incidents reported this morning was the mobilization of the Castellón Provincial Fire Consortium to rescue a person from inside their vehicle, which was stuck in the water in Sant Jordi , Efe reports.
The same situation occurred in Zaragoza , where firefighters from the Provincial Council had to assist several people trapped in their vehicles. They also intervened in a gas leak caused by heavy rains in Botorrita, which was resolved.

The La Saleta ravine overflowsThe heavy rains recorded tonight in the municipality of Aldaia, in the Valencian region of l'Horta Sud , have caused the La Saleta ravine to overflow at the Bonaire dam , flooding some streets in the town.
The rainfall—57 liters per square meter in just 35 minutes, according to Avamet—has caused moments of tension during the night, although no one has had to be evacuated because the flood barriers and pipelines "have fulfilled their function," the mayor of Aldaia, Guillermo Luján, explained to Efe.
The Valencia metropolitan area, especially in l'Horta Sud—ground zero of the storm on October 29—has experienced severe storms this morning.
In Castellón , the first intense storm of this episode of rain has left 61 liters per square meter this afternoon in Les Useres , in the Castellón region of l'Alcalatén, according to data from the Valencian Meteorological Association (Avamet).
Classes are suspendedValencia City Council has suspended teaching activities in all schools, sports activities organized by the Municipal Sports Foundation, and activities held in social centers (senior citizens' centers, day centers, and youth centers).

In Catalonia, the Ministry of Education has decided to suspend classes at the Sant Miquel and L'Assumpció schools in the Ebro Delta, and at Horta Vella, in La Ràpita, due to the forecast of heavy rain in the coming hours in the Montsià and Baix Ebre regions.
Along the same lines, several municipalities in southern Tarragona, especially those in the Ebro Delta, have activated their municipal plans this afternoon in response to the risk of flooding, including the suspension of the festive events planned in Vandellès for its main festival.
More than one hundred water incidents in ZaragozaThe storm is also affecting other autonomous communities, such as Aragon and Castilla-La Mancha, which are at orange level, with a significant risk of storms and heavy rain.
In Zaragoza, firefighters have received more than 100 calls due to the storm, and the Royo Villanova and Miguel Servet hospitals have been affected, although without major incidents.
