The Trump administration has a plan to free Israeli hostages held by Hamas and send more aid to Gaza: here's what we know.

The Trump administration has a plan to end the war in Gaza, ensuring the return of captives and sending more aid to the Palestinian enclave , U.S. Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff announced this during a meeting Saturday with the families of Israeli hostages held by Hamas.

"We have a plan to end the war and bring everyone home," Witkoff said at the headquarters of the Forum of Families of Hostages and Missing Persons, which brings together the relatives of most of the captives in Gaza and organizes weekly protests demanding their release.
The American did not provide details about the plan. Until now, he has been credited with the ceasefire proposal that Israel and Hamas were negotiating, a 60-day truce during which some living and dead hostages would be released and a definitive end to the conflict would be negotiated. However, the talks stalled weeks ago and have shown no progress since.
"Our top priority is to bring all the hostages home. President Trump believes everyone should be released and that those who are alive should stay alive. For him, this is a sacred mission," Witkoff said.
The envoy also assured that Hamas would be held responsible for any harm suffered by the captives , while the US "will do the right thing for the people of Gaza."
On Friday, after visiting an aid distribution post in the Gaza Strip, Witkoff stated that the United States' intention is to "develop a plan to deliver food and medical aid to the people of Gaza."

The US envoy, along with US Ambassador Mike Huckabee, visited a food distribution site run by the US-based Gaza Humanitarian Fund (GHF) in Rafah (southern Gaza Strip) with the intention of reviewing the delivery conditions and conveying them to US President Donald Trump.
Around these points, where Israel agreed to allow the GHF (run by the US and Israel itself) to deliver food after months of a total blockade of the Strip, more than 850 people have lost their lives , most of them due to Israeli army fire.
Between Thursday and Friday, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and Hamas released videos of hostages Rom Braslavski and Evyatar David respectively, in which both appeared extremely thin, especially David.
The two are among the 20 hostages believed to remain alive in Gaza, in addition to 30 dead. At the end of July, Palestinian Islamic Jihad claimed to have lost contact with Braslavski's captors after the Israeli army allegedly attacked the area where he was being held.

" We know who's alive, and someone will be to blame if they don't make it out alive . The United States supports this statement," the envoy also said.
The UN Security Council will hold an emergency session on the Gaza hostages on Tuesday amid outrage over their fate in the war-torn enclave.
