To prison for acts of animal cruelty in the Azcorra neighborhood, in Merida
MÉRIDA.- Accused of the crime of animal cruelty, RJAD was charged by the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) for the events that occurred last week on the streets of the Azcorra neighborhood , for which the aggressor will remain in preventive detention .
The accused was brought before the Second Control Judge of the First District , based in Mérida , where the charge was formulated and, after invoking the extension of the law, he was summoned to continue the hearing on February 26.
The facts, compiled in the investigation file of criminal case 115/2025 , establish that they occurred on February 19, in the afternoon, when the accused hit a canine named "Negro" or "Viejo" with a metal rod.
The attack on the dog, which caused a blunt wound to the nasal region , was observed by two witnesses, one of whom followed the accused while calling 911 for police assistance, so he was arrested and handed over to the Public Prosecutor's Office .
Finally, before concluding the proceedings, they presented the arguments to support the request for preventive detention as a precautionary measure , which was granted by the judicial authority for the entire duration of the process.
