This church is another of the most recognized in El Retiro. According to the local mayor's office, Father Javier Toro, who was parish priest of El Retiro between 2004 and 2008, began celebrating a monthly mass at the local school.
Over time, and responding to the community's desire for more frequent celebrations, he began holding them every two weeks, always demonstrating humility and commitment. Some women from the area offered empanadas and other foods, with the generous support of Gilberto Buitrago, who also provided a stove.
On August 6, 2013, by Decree 023 of 2013 signed by the Bishop, the Parish was officially established under the name "Camino de Emaús" , with "La Virgen del Camino" as patron saint.
