How much does a banderillero earn per bullfight in Spain in 2025: salaries by category

Tradition is deeply rooted in Spain. Thousands of towns and cities celebrate their patron saint festivals each year, where one of the activities is bullfighting , a tradition with centuries of history in our country.
Like any profession, bullfighting workers have salaries established in their collective bargaining agreement published in the Official State Gazette (BOE), although prestige or recognition may have their own significance, just like any artist. The Sixth National Collective Bullfighting Agreement, in force until December 31, 2025, contains these figures.
In addition, the salary tables published in the Official State Gazette of February 18, 2025, have been updated in 2025.
These salary tables show the minimum wages for bullfighters, but also for other members of the bullfighting team, such as banderilleros, picadores, and rejoneadores. They also establish the professional and bullring categories.
According to the tables published in 2025, a group A banderillero in a first-class arena can earn 1,883 euros. In contrast, a group B and C banderillero in a fourth-class arena earns 928 euros. The amounts for third-class banderilleros are also established.

These are the salaries for events with matadors in bullfights. There are also other minimums for events such as bullfights with rejoneadores (horse-riding bulls) or bullfights with novilladas (bullfights on horseback).
As noted, depending on the category of the bullring —defined by tradition, number, and type of events held—the fees charged may be higher. The bullfighter also plays a role, as top-level figures may have their own fees.
According to the agreement, the first-category plazas are those of Madrid, Seville, Córdoba, Barcelona, Valencia, Zaragoza, Bilbao, San Sebastián, Pamplona, and Málaga. Second-category plazas are all provincial capitals that are not part of the first group, plus Vista Alegre (Madrid), Colmenar Viejo (Madrid), Aranjuez (Madrid), Gijón, Algeciras (Cádiz), Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz), El Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz), Linares (Jaén), Plasencia (Cáceres), Mérida (Badajoz), Cartagena (Murcia), and Olivenza (Badajoz).
