Radiotherapy Area inaugurated at the Jalisco Cancer Institute

This Monday, the radiotherapy area and the new linear accelerator were inaugurated at the Jalisco Cancer Institute in Jalisco.

With this new equipment, this hospital consolidates its position as the second most important in the country for oncology treatment and one of the best-equipped in Latin America.

Manuel Arias Novoa, the Institute's general director, explained that this new area features a CT simulator and high-rate brachytherapy for the treatment of cervical and endometrial cancer in our patients.

He explained that the team will be able to serve between 70 and 80 patients daily, divided into three shifts.

"With this equipment, we're strengthening our position. At the old hospital, we have a linear accelerator, low-rate brachytherapy, and cobalt. This one has a second accelerator and high-rate brachytherapy. So, we're positioned as the second most advanced oncology center in the country." , said Arías Novoa.

He explained that after a year of work, from hiring the team to the actual construction, the first treatments were performed last Monday.
