Airline changes: new routes launched and eliminated in Spain

The global air map is constantly changing. Airlines update their routes and connect and terminate connections depending on factors such as demand, profitability, and even geopolitical issues .
In Spain, we've seen many new developments , from eliminated routes to newly launched connections and others that have been announced and will soon be launched.
Ryanair and its big cutsTo start with, there are the Ryanair flight suspensions. announced just a few weeks ago. Specifically, the low-cost airline will eliminate all flights to the airports of Vigo , where it operated a route to London , and Tenerife Norte , which connected to Alicante, Madrid, Palma, Seville, Valencia, Barcelona, and Santiago.
On the other hand, flights from Santiago to Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Alicante, Gran Canaria, Palma de Mallorca, and Zaragoza will be eliminated starting in October, and next summer, connections to Brussels, Dublin, Fuerteventura, Ibiza, Menorca, and Memmingen. Routes from Zaragoza to Palma, Paris, and Fez, and from Santander to Rome, Milan, Vienna, and Paris, will also be eliminated. The Canary Islands airports of Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, and Gran Canaria will also lose flights.

Vueling, debuting in CórdobaVueling has just launched its new connection between Barcelona and Córdoba . This new frequency will be two flights per week , on Thursdays and Sundays in both directions. Iberia adds three new routesOne of Iberia's main new winter season updates is the launch of three new long-haul international routes . Starting October 26, the airline will launch direct flights between Madrid and Orlando (United States) with four weekly flights operated with A330 aircraft. Direct flights to Recife (Brazil) will begin on December 13, with three weekly flights, and Fortaleza (Brazil) will be added on January 19, also with three weekly flights. Both routes will be operated with an Airbus A321XLR.
Air Europa and GenevaAir Europa will expand its operations in Switzerland starting in the summer of 2026. On June 19 , the airline will launch a new route connecting Madrid and Geneva with two daily flights. Flights will depart from Madrid to the Swiss city at 7:55 a.m. and 4:40 p.m., while in the opposite direction they will depart from Geneva at 10:50 a.m. and 7:35 p.m. All operations to Switzerland are carried out using the Boeing 737-800 fleet.
Korean Air lands in MalagaKorean Air will connect Malaga and Seoul with a pilot operation consisting of four round-trip charter flights throughout October and into early November. These flights will be part of a tour package marketed by tour operator Hanjin Travel. The route will operate aboard Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.
