"Everything is flooded, the roads are cut off": Record rains cause "significant damage" in Le Lavandou

Since this morning, the Cavalière area, a seaside district in Le Lavandou, has been completely devastated, after 230 mm of rain fell in one hour.

" Everything is flooded, the roads are cut off, the slab at beach level has collapsed, the bridges are completely destabilized . We have asked the prefect for emergency assistance ," announced the mayor, Gil Bernardi, who was present at the scene this Tuesday morning.

Even though no casualties appear to have been reported, this area , which includes a hotel and the town hall annex, is currently, as of 10 a.m. on Tuesday, completely closed to the public .

Crisis units have been established on site to better manage this disaster, and numerous emergency resources are in action.
