A portal presenting 2,500 audio-described films put online, announces the Minister of Culture

It lists some 2,500 titles. A portal of audio-described films, accessible to people with visual impairments, went online on Tuesday, February 25 and offers both very recent feature films and slightly older works. Audio description consists of describing the scenes of an audiovisual program by a voice-over between the dialogues, in order to help the visually impaired to better understand.
The catalogue of this portal, which includes for example The Count of Monte Cristo with Pierre Niney in the title role, then refers to five platforms (Arte.tv, France.tv, Cinetek, Canal+ and Orange) where it is possible to view the work, with access which may be paid or free depending on the case.
"This is just the beginning. This platform will be significantly enriched in the coming months, with new partner platforms," assured the Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati, during a speech delivered at the opening of the Marius audio description award ceremony, a prize given each year.
