Tartas: Blood Donor Association launches call for volunteers

The local association reminds people of the importance of donating blood and invites them to participate in the next blood drive on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.
"It is together, with you, every day, that we are building the healthcare system that the French population so desperately needs," explains the assistant secretary of the Association of Volunteer Blood Donors of Tartas and its surrounding areas (ADSB). "Giving a little of your blood for others is the greatest of small gestures."
In fact, if donating blood remains an individual step, it is also this small gesture that connects blood donors to a group of recipients, namely relatives, sometimes hospitalized patients, road or work accident victims or even people suffering from cancer.
"Blood donation unites both donors and the people whose lives they help save, and we see this clearly in our association," continues president Philippe Brazeilles, pointing out that 10,000 to 13,000 blood bags are needed every day in France. It's important to remember that one donation can save three lives.
Targeted students and athletesHence the call for new donors, such as students and athletes over 18, to participate in the next collection, which will take place on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Tartas multipurpose hall. You can donate blood from 18 to 70 years old, provided you weigh more than 50 kilos. All you need is a photo ID and to register on the website dondesang.efs.sante.fr
"For our association, today is another opportunity to thank those who mobilized for World Blood Donor Day on June 14. We would also like to thank the sponsoring businesses and external contributors for allowing us to improve and bring this world day to life," concludes Philippe Brazeilles.
