1923 Duo Taylor Sheridan and Brandon Sklenar Will Reunite For an Action Film

1923 Duo Taylor Sheridan and Brandon Sklenar Will Reunite For an Action Film
preview for 1923 season 2 – official trailer (Paramount+)

Taylor Sheridan is the king of the castle over at Paramount. The Yellowstone creator currently writes and produces seven (!) series in addition to the flagship western, including Landman, Lioness, Tulsa King, 1883, 1923, Lawmen: Bass Reeves, and Mayor of Kingstown. But before Sheridan offered his golden pen to the Paramount Network, the Sicario and Hell or High Water director was commissioned by Warner Bros. for an action film.

Titled F.A.S.T., the upcoming special forces thriller is finally heading into production. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sheridan will reunite with his 1923 star, Brandon Sklenar, as well as series cinematographer Ben Richardson. Richardson will also direct the film, which already has a release date. How F.A.S.T., exactly? Well, the film is set for release in theaters on April 23, 2027. So, not that fast.

F.A.S.T. will reportedly follow a former special forces agent who leads a DEA black-ops strike team to stop CIA-protected drug dealers. Place your bets now on what F.A.S.T. could stand for. My best guess? Field... Action... Special Team? Well, if it’s anything like the turbo action of Lioness, then I’m sure explosions and non-stop gunfire will help race audiences past any confusion. As always, in Sheridan in trust.

When we talked to Sklenar before 1923’s season 2 premiere, he told Esquire that he would jump at any chance to work with Sheridan again.

“I was grinding for 12 to 13 years before [1923],” Sklenar said. “For [Sheridan] to put that faith in me to play this incredible character he wrote, I’ll forever be in debt to him. I’m just so honored that I got to do it and hopefully continue to do it."
