Culture: Bordeaux museums offer free admission this Sunday

Thierry DAVID / SO
How can we create from what's right in front of us? This is the question posed by the artists of the exhibition "The Invention of the Everyday." With an ecological approach, they explore a new way of being in the world, moving away from science fiction and creating with everyday objects. Thirty artists from five continents strive to repurpose, transform, or elevate ordinary gestures and materials.
Until January 4, 2026, CAPC Museum of Contemporary Art, Bordeaux. capc-bordeaux.fr
2 Childhood at the Museum of Fine Arts
Thierry DAVID / SO
These are the final days for stories of childhood at the Fine Arts Gallery, through the exhibition "As Good as a Picture?". The perspective of artists (from 1790 to 1850) on childhood, and the way in which their representations reflect the spirit of their times, forms the central theme of this exhibition. Around one hundred works by Delacroix, Géricault, Ingres, Corot, Daumier, and David d'Angers are displayed alongside lesser-known, but equally evocative, pieces.
Until November 3, Bordeaux Fine Arts Gallery. musba-bordeaux.fr
3 Societal Shifts at the Aquitaine Museum
Claude Petit / SO
Alongside its collections spanning from prehistory to the 21st century, the museum presents "The World After 1944-1954: A Brighter Future?". This exhibition invites visitors to relive national history and the history of Bordeaux through the daily lives of its inhabitants in the post-war period. The creation of Social Security, women's suffrage, the development of household appliances, and the Americanization of society: these technological, economic, and social shifts are explored until November 16.
Open every day except Mondays and public holidays, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. musee-aquitaine-bordeaux.fr
4 Migrations at the Museum and the Botanical Garden
Thierry David / SO
In addition to its permanent exhibits on the richness of biodiversity, the Museum is hosting an exhibition on the migrations of living things until November 9th. Located between the museum and the Botanical Garden, this exhibition highlights fundamental questions surrounding migration across the animal and plant kingdoms. Numerous examples, both iconic and unexpected, illustrate this exploration of migrations throughout the living world: from zooplankton to whales, including birds, insects, and even plants.
