Biagio Agnes Award 2025: the great celebration of journalism with awards, music and institutions in Piazza di Spagna

Journalism that narrates the transformations of our time with passion, freedom and authority returned to the forefront in the 17th edition of the “Biagio Agnes Award” , the prestigious ceremony dedicated to information and culture that was held in a splendid Piazza di Spagna in Rome , the venue for the first time. The ceremony, broadcast on Rai1 on Tuesday 1 July in the late evening , celebrated the faces and voices of Italian information, with the participation of important representatives of institutions, journalism, culture and entertainment.
The evening was once again hosted by the tried and tested and well-matched duo of Mara Venier and Alberto Matano , who guided the audience through awards, artistic performances and shared emotions. Also present in the audience were Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani , Minister for Reforms Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati , Undersecretary for Publishing Alberto Barachini and Mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri , as well as Rai CEO Giampaolo Rossi and DG Roberto Sergio .

Carlo Conti , a historic face of Rai, received the Television Award .

Fiorenza Sarzanini , deputy director of Corriere della Sera , received the Printed Paper Award .

Aldo Cazzullo , editorialist and host, was awarded for Cultural Dissemination .

Francesca Fagnani , host of the cult show Belve , received the Broadcast of the Year Award .

The Fiction Prize went to the miniseries The Count of Monte Cristo , rewarding the director Bille August and the actors Lino Guanciale , Gabriella Pession and Nicolas Maupas .

Roberto Garofoli and Bernardo Giorgio Mattarella were awarded for their essay Governing Fragility .

Alberto Puoti of RaiNews24 received the Special Award .

Economic journalist Alessandra Ricciardi was awarded the Economic Journalist Prize .

Fabio Marchese Ragona , Vatican expert for Mediaset, received the Jubilee Award for the book he wrote with Pope Francis Life – My story in history .

Finally, Martina Pennisi ( Corriere.it ) was awarded the Digital Generation – Podcast Prize .
Enriching the ceremony were the extraordinary musical performances of Patty Pravo , Sal Da Vinci , Amedeo Minghi and Serena Autieri , in addition to the refined dance of Simone Repele and Sasha Riva , who enchanted the audience on Il cielo in una stanza . A mix of music, art and words that made the atmosphere of the evening vibrate.
This year too, the Prize wanted to send a strong signal to the new generations by awarding a scholarship to the first place winner of the LUISS School of Journalism : the 2025 winner is Gennaro Tortorelli .
The Biagio Agnes Award was organized under the patronage of the Chamber of Deputies , the Presidency of the Council , the European Parliament , the Ministry of Culture , the Lazio Region , Rome Capital , the Order of Journalists , FNSI and the Catholic Union of the Italian Press .
