Pro-Am kicks off Chapultepec Championship

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Mexican Baseball League , the traditional Pro-Am was held to mark the starting flag for the Chapultepec Championship, the seventh date of the current campaign of the Mexican Professional Tour (GPM).

The event was attended by the 20 teams of the Mexican Baseball League , an organization headed by Horacio de la Vega , who shared a group with Mikel Arriola , Commissioner of the Mexican Football Federation and the professional José Cristóbal Islas , two-time winner in the current season of the GPM.

He also highlighted the presence of former Major League baseball players, Oaxacan legend Vinicio Castilla and Jorge Cantú :

"I am very pleased to be here at this grand celebration of the 100 years of the Mexican Baseball League. I am proud to be here," said Castilla, former Colorado Rockies player.

The winning team by tiebreaker was made up of professional Sebastián Vázquez, champion of the 2016 Mexican Open Golf Tournament, and amateurs Jaime Ysita, Eduardo Sierra, Gerardo Tietzsch and José Miguel Bejos, GPM Commissioner and President of the Pericos de Puebla. “What a joy to see this great sporting encounter between golf and baseball. I am sure that this tournament will be the first of many,” said José Miguel Bejos.

A very unique golf clinic was held featuring the 20 mascots and some LMB executives . The Chapultepec Championship will kick off today, an event that will feature the participation of 79 players and will distribute a purse of 1.8 million pesos .

Chapultepec Golf Club , one of the courses with the most history and tradition in the Mexican Republic, will open its doors for the first time to the GPM , the only circuit in our country that awards points for the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR).
