The Grand Egyptian Museum, located in the southwest of Giza, continues to attract a large number of foreign visitors. Its proximity to the iconic pyramids and the enormous number of artifacts it houses—more than 4,000—including statues, effigies, figurines, ceramics, ancient weapons, sarcophagi, and mummies of ancient inhabitants, make it one of the kingdom's major tourist attractions. Covering 50 hectares, it is the largest archaeological site in the world dedicated to a single civilization; it also has a conference hall and offers workshops for visitors.
