From July 1st, an unpleasant surprise. Everyone will get such electricity bills

- Customers who use electricity pay fees for various reasons.
- Until now, regulations were in force that suspended the collection of additional capacity fees.
- From July 1, this will change. All electricity consumers will pay more. Monthly rates will depend on energy consumption.
The supply of electricity is carried out on the basis of a sales contract and a contract for the provision of transmission or distribution services. The supply of electricity may also take place on the basis of an agreement containing the provisions of a sales contract and a contract for the provision of energy transmission or distribution services, known as a comprehensive contract.
The recipient of electricity pays fees for two reasons :
- purchase of electricity,
- distribution services for this energy.
These activities are carried out by two different companies: the seller and the distribution system operator (distributor).
The recipient usually receives one invoice which includes both energy sales fees and distribution service fees.
- explains the Energy Regulatory Office.
An electricity bill is a sum of various charges. It is hard for consumers to figure it outThe electricity bill - in the case of a comprehensive contract issued to consumers from tariff group G - includes, among others, the following fees:
- price of electricity - expressed in PLN/kWh, the fee depends on the amount of energy used,
- other rates - some sellers in offers not approved by the President of the Energy Regulatory Office often set other fees independent of the amount of electricity consumed, e.g. a trade fee, a subscription fee related to the sale of energy or a handling fee.
- the variable component of the network rate - a fee depending on the amount of energy consumed,
- quality rate - related to the costs of maintaining appropriate electricity parameters
- subscription fee rate - calculated on the basis of costs incurred in connection with meter reading
- RES fee - resulting from mechanisms and instruments supporting the production of electricity from renewable energy sources
- capacity fee - resulting from the introduced mechanism for covering the costs of capacity contracts for energy producers who are obliged to maintain the availability of generating units.
The latter - the capacity fee - has not been paid by recipients recently. - As part of protective measures, the zero rate of the so-called capacity fee for households will be extended in the first half of 2025 - informed the Ministry of Climate and Environment.
However, this will soon change. The government has decided that the regulations suspending the fee related to electricity supply will expire at the end of June.
The President of the Energy Regulatory Office published the final results of the supplementary auction of the capacity market for the second half of 2025, which means that it was not invalidated by the minister.
Therefore, from July, household bills will again include the capacity fee in the amount approved for 2025 by the President of URE in September 2024.
- informs URE.
The amount of the capacity fee depends on the amount of electricity consumed by the household.Monthly capacity fee rates will be:
- PLN 2.86 net for households consuming less than 500 kWh of electricity per year,
- for households with consumption from 500 kWh to 1200 kWh per year the rate will be PLN 6.86 net,
- for customers consuming from 1,200 kWh to 2,800 kWh per year the rate will be PLN 11.14 net,
- for households consuming more than 2,800 kWh per year, the monthly capacity fee rate will be PLN 16.01 net.
According to the legislator's assumptions, the stability and continuity of electricity supply are crucial, which is why the capacity fee has been included in the electricity bill structures . In principle, it is to support investments in energy infrastructure and ensure the availability of electricity especially during periods of greatest demand.
