India announced on Wednesday morning local time the launch of a military operation codenamed "Sindoor" aimed at "terrorist infrastructure" located both in Pakistani territory and in the part of Kashmir controlled by that country. It emphasized that military installations were not targeted.
Pakistani military spokesman Ahmed Chaudhri, quoted by AFP, said that 26 civilians were killed and 46 injured in the Indian army attacks. Indian police reported at least 10 deaths and 48 injuries.
