Saturday evening, July 5, in Rzepin. The peace of the weekend will be interrupted by a drama at Lake Długie. It will turn out to be another tragedy that day in the region.

At 6:16 p.m., firefighters from Słubice received a report of a missing 12-year-old girl. The girl disappeared over a lake. Several units of the state and volunteer fire department were sent to the scene. An air ambulance helicopter landed. A specialist water and diving group from Międzyrzecz also set off, but was eventually turned back from the route.

During the search operations conducted by firefighters, including from rescue boats and using an underwater drone from JRG Słubice, the girl was pulled from under the water. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was immediately started by firefighters and paramedics.

– said Junior Brigadier Paweł Przybylski from the District Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Słubice.

The 12-year-old girl was tried to be revived for an hour. Unfortunately, despite the help provided, the child could not be saved. The doctor declared the girl dead.

The tragedy occurred during a swim in a lake. The girl suddenly found herself underwater. She was under the care of an adult.

The police will investigate the details of the incident under the supervision of the prosecutor's office. According to local media, when the tragedy occurred, the swimming area was no longer guarded by lifeguards.

At the time, events were taking place at the lake as part of the Rzepińska Forest Days. Due to the tragedy, the event was canceled. The organizers ask for understanding and respect for the situation.

The Rzepin Commune Office issued a statement on the matter, informing about the tragedy:

In the face of this dramatic event, further celebrations of the Rzepińska Forest Days are canceled. We join in sadness and mourning with the girl's family and loved ones. We ask everyone for a moment of reflection and silence.

Another drowning in Lubuskie

This is yet another such tragedy by the water in Lubuskie. On Saturday morning, July 5, a 39-year-old drowned in Tyczyn near Świebodzin.
