The Beatles on the verge of superstardom. Paul McCartney photo exhibition opens in London.

The exhibition "Rearview Mirror: Liverpool–London–Paris" is "a look at one of the most groundbreaking periods in the history of modern music, through the eyes of someone who was part of it." From August 28th, Gagosian Gallery in London will be hosting a collection of photographs taken by Paul McCartney at the dawn of the Beatles' rise to fame.
The exhibition offers an intimate insight into the lives of the Liverpool Big Four, both on and off stage. Photos thought lost for 50 years will be released in August. The photographs, taken by Paul McCartney between December 1963 and February 1964, were taken at a pivotal moment in the Beatles' career.
McCartney used his Pentax SLR to document the moments when Beatlemania was sweeping Europe and shortly before it erupted in the US. The photographs captured the band members backstage, between concerts, and in the "moments before the storm" that their international success brought. Among the collection was even a set of photos documenting the tense atmosphere before the Beatles' flight to New York—"the beginning of their global reign."
The exhibition will be on view from August 28 to October 4.
