Each of the three strike days would be aimed at each of the general careers in the public service.
The three-day national strike called by the National Federation of Public and Social Service Workers' Unions (FNSTFPS), to demand responses to workers' problems, starts this Wednesday and should have an impact on "various sectors of the Public Administration".
The FNSTFPS, affiliated with the CGTP, decided that each of the three days of strike would be directed at each of the general careers in the public service, "given the lack of response to the problems" of these workers, according to a statement.
Thus, the national strike this Wednesday is aimed at senior technicians, the one on the 27th at technical assistants and the one on February 28th at operational assistants.
According to the federation, the strike "will have an impact on several sectors of the Public Administration" and aims to "immediately begin" negotiation processes to enhance careers, "immediately increase salary levels" and "apply seniority enhancement to all careers".
This Monday, after leaving a meeting with the Government about the organic restructuring of the Ministry of Finance, the coordinator of the FNSTFPS, Sebastião Santana, highlighted that the proposal for valorization of the workers involved in this reorganization was not negative, but that it was "a shame that there is currently no word to say about the others".
That is why the FNSTFPS "has scheduled strikes for these workers in general careers - senior technicians, technical assistants and operational assistants - for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, precisely to draw attention to the need to value these careers now and not just revisit them in 2027, which is what the Government is proposing", he argued.
In November, the Government signed a new agreement with two of the public service union structures (Fesap and Frente Sindical) to enhance the value of Public Administration workers.
In this agreement, to which the Common Front, linked to the CGTP, was not bound, the executive committed to "reevaluating, restructuring and valuing general careers" in the Public Administration, starting in 2027.
The FNSTFPS also announced, in a statement, that it will call a national strike for March 6 to demand "immediate review and valorization of all unrevised careers" in the public service and indicating that the "Government persists in not responding to the problems" of these workers.
