Public sector strike participation exceeds 50%

Adherence to the first of three days of strike called by the National Federation of Unions of Workers in Public and Social Functions (FNSTFPS) is “above 50%”, according to coordinator Sebastião Santana.
The FNSTFPS, affiliated with the CGTP, decided that each of the three days of strike would be directed at one of the general careers of the public service , “given the lack of response to the problems” of these workers.
Thus, this Wednesday's national strike is aimed at senior technicians and, taking into account that "this career covers nearly 50,000 workers", it has around 25,000 professionals on strike , including the "central administration and the two regional administrations, the Azores and Madeira", the union leader told Lusa.
Thursday's strike is for technical assistants and Friday is dedicated to operational assistants .
