Funeral services for record producer Mário Martins begin on Saturday

On Saturday, at 3:00 pm, the urn is scheduled to arrive at the Chapel of S. Julião da Barra, in Oeiras, with the wake beginning at 7:00 pm, and a funeral mass being celebrated at 9:00 pm.
The coffin is taken on Sunday morning to Gandarela (Celorico de Basto), in the district of Braga, where mass is celebrated in the main church, followed by the funeral at the local cemetery.
Record producer Mário Martins died on Thursday, aged 90, in a hospital in Lisbon.
Mário Martins lived at the Artist's House.
Mário Martins was responsible for introducing names such as Carlos Paião (1945-1988), Marco Paulo (1945-2024), José Cid, or Rui Veloso to the public.
At the end of the 1970s, Mário Martins was also responsible for signing the contract of António Variações (1944-1984) with the Valentim de Carvalho record label, and his name was linked to the careers of many other Portuguese artists, from Amália Rodrigues (1920-1999) to Simone de Oliveira and Frei Hermano da Câmara.
