Matosinhos em Jazz, an initiative by Matosinhos City Council, takes place throughout the month of July, has free entry and shows always take place at 6 pm.

Although the concerts begin today, this edition kicked off on Tuesday, with the inauguration of an exhibition at Parque Basílio Teles, featuring the reinterpretation of iconic jazz album covers by five Portuguese artists: Barbara R., Nuno Trigueiros, Bina Tangerina, Mariana PTKS and Tiago Galo.

The festival continues on Saturday with a performance by Brazilian pianist Amaro Freitas.

On July 12th, Matosinhos em Jazz will host corto.alto, a project by British multi-instrumentalist Liam Shortall, on July 13th, British singer Cherise, on July 19th, Australian Allysha Joy and, on July 20th, Portuguese-Croatian Lana Gasparøtti.

The festival's lineup includes two other concerts, which will take place at Praça Guilhermina Suggia.

On July 24th, the Porto Casa da Música Symphony Orchestra presents the show "Sons do Brasil", with trumpeter Gileno Santana as a guest.

The following day, the Matosinhos Jazz Orchestra will perform with the fado singer Ricardo Ribeiro and the pianist João Paulo Esteves da Silva.

These two shows take place at 10pm and also have free entry.
