International Organ and Sacred Music Festival with concerts in 12 municipalities

The 5th edition of the International Organ and Sacred Music Festival kicks off on Sunday in Porto, with a “musical marathon” at the Cathedral, and will be divided into two seasons with concerts in 12 municipalities in the North region.
In a statement released today, the organization of the International Organ and Sacred Music Festival (FIOMS) revealed that this is the first time that the event is divided into two seasons, the first taking place from Saturday to November 30th and the second from January 17th to February 15th.
During these months, the festival will have in its program “symphonic choirs, organ recitals, choral music and training activities” spread across Porto, Maia, Valongo, Gondomar, Vila Nova de Gaia, Espinho, Oliveira de Azeméis, Arouca, Vila do Conde, Felgueiras, Amarante and Paços de Ferreira.
This Sunday, at Porto Cathedral, between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm, there will be a concert by Gregório Gomes, Rui Fernando Soares and Tiago Ferreira.
And, at 9:30 pm, a performance by German organist Wolfgang Zerer “kicks off the commemorative concert that will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Porto Cathedral organ”.
"As in previous editions, the region's churches and historic monuments will once again be transformed into spaces for cultural enjoyment and musical discovery," the organization assured, highlighting the first season's "diverse program," which features "30 free concerts, as well as an international masterclass and a conference."
