Tokayev dismissed Kazakhstan's ambassador to the United States.

By decree of the Head of State, Yerzhan Nigmatullauly Ashikbayev has been relieved of his post as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United States of America.

Ashikbayev was born in Almaty in 1974. He began his career in 1998 as a desk officer in the Asia, Middle East and Africa Department, Eastern Division of the Department of International Economic Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Before heading our diplomatic mission to the United States (05.04.2021), he was Deputy Head of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Official Representative of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan (09.2012-10.2012); Head of the Foreign Policy Center of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (10.2012-2013); Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan (12.2013-05.04.2021).
