The Chairman of the Synodal Department for Interaction with the Armed Forces of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Kirill of Stavropol and Nevinnomyssk, suggested that many participants in the special military operation will become clergy in the future. He spoke about this in an interview with TASS.
"...The Church blesses and will bless these warriors if they want to become priests and, especially, monks. This is normal and correct," Metropolitan Kirill was quoted as saying by TASS.
He added that during combat operations, soldiers encounter a large number of terrible things that push them to "re-evaluate their values." According to him, many servicemen have already undergone the sacrament of baptism and expressed their intention to enter the seminary.
Perhaps Metropolitan Kirill's assumption will be correct, given the examples of heroic deeds by clergymen with whom many Russian fighters are familiar. Earlier, a story became known about a priest and an imam who together saved the residents of Kursk region during an attempt by Kiev militants to invade the border area.
