The incident occurred in the rural Kesikağaç neighborhood of Yenişehir on the evening of July 13th. Umut Alpaydıncı and his neighbor, Bedran T., entered the Tigris River to fish and nearly drowned. Seeing the children struggling in the water, Tahsin Alpaydıncı, his son Umut, and their neighbor rescued Bedran.

Meanwhile, Ömer, trying to help his father, was swept away by the current. Tahsin Alpaydıncı, who had brought the children to shore, jumped back into the water to help Ömer, who cried out for help. However, Ömer Alpaydıncı was soon swept away by the current and disappeared.

Following the report, health, AFAD, Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Fire and Rescue, Gendarmerie Search and Rescue (JAK), and police teams were dispatched to the area. Umut Alpaydıncı and Bedran T., who were pulled from the water, were taken to the hospital after receiving first aid. A search operation was launched for Ömer, who had disappeared after being swept away by the current.

In an operation conducted by a total of 63 search and rescue personnel, Ömer Alpaydıncı's body was found this morning approximately 150 meters from the spot where he disappeared. Alpaydıncı's body was recovered from the water and taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute for an autopsy.
