People flocked to China's 'Puppy Mountain' went viral

When Shanghai-based designer Guo Qingshan shared a holiday photo on Valentine's Day and captioned it " Puppy Mountain," the photo caused a sensation in China and even became a tourist destination.

While visiting his hometown of Yichang in central China’s Hubei Province in late January, Guo was out for a walk. As he was examining photos, he saw something he hadn’t noticed before: a dog-head-shaped mountain lying on the ground beside the Yangtze River , its nose perched at the water’s edge.

"It was so magical and cute. I was so excited and happy when I discovered it. The puppy's posture is as if it is drinking water or looking at fish. It also seems to be silently guarding the Yangtze River," Guo said.

VIEWED MILLIONS OF TIMES

Guo’s Chinese social media post received 120,000 likes in 10 days. The Chinese hashtag “Puppy Mountain” has been viewed millions of times.

TOURISTS FLOODED

Dog owners began sharing photos of their dogs to see which one bore the closest resemblance. Many people traveled directly to the area in Yichang to see the mountain in person, and some even brought their dogs along to take photos.
