Ceramic panel with the theme of Ataturk and Urla amazed

The ceramic panel themed “Atatürk and Urla” was opened with a ceremony at the art event held in the Urla district of İzmir. Urla Mayor Selçuk Balkan, former İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu and art lovers attended the ceremony at the Atatürk Cultural Center.

INSPIRED BY ATATURK'S FAVORITE OBJECTS

The opening was prepared in honor of the 99th anniversary of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's arrival in Urla. Within the scope of this special project, 13 ceramic artists produced original works inspired by Urla's history, cultural heritage and Atatürk's favorite objects. The 3x5 meter panel consisting of a total of 130 pieces amazed those who saw it.

The artists included Oya Gözmen, Deniz Ayhan, Şebnem Çetiner, Banu Bilge Çolak, Nalan Atalay, Filiz Keyder Özkan, Şenay Tayanç Dalkılıç, Hatice Turan, Özlem Tüzer Koç, Sevil Tüzer, Yelda Çakı, Asuman Zeybek Men and Arzu Berk.

EVERY PIECE OF THE PANEL HAS A DIFFERENT MEANING

Aziz Kocaoğlu also praised the panel: “The panel is very meaningful. Each piece has a different value. Urla houses, Atatürk’s words and Urla’s symbols. It is a very successful and beautiful work. I wish they would do more projects. We are fans of Atatürk. Atatürk can only be told this beautifully in a place like this.”

The works, prepared with the hand-shaping technique on red clay and chamotte clay plates, were completed with glaze applications. Combining technical mastery with emotional depth, the panel is not only an artistic expression; it is also a permanent memory that carries Atatürk's mark and Urla's values to the future.
