The Izmir Metropolitan Municipality City Theatres (İzBBŞT) is opening the season at its new stage, the Hikmet Şimşek Art Center, in Karşıyaka . The season's first play, "A Very Peculiar Investigation," will be performed on October 17th and 18th.

On October 19th, the children's play "School for Clowns" will be performed by children from Karşıyaka. Celebrating its fifth anniversary, the İzmir City Theatres opened its second stage in Karşıyaka with the aim of bringing the art of theatre to every corner of the city.

In addition to the ongoing performances at the İsmet İnönü Stage, the Hikmet Şimşek Stage will host theatergoers during the last two weeks of each month. İzBBŞT General Artistic Director Levent Üzümcü stated that the new stage in Karşıyaka is the first step in their goal of bringing theater to a wider audience, saying, “As a public theater, we produce theater with the public's taxes. Therefore, we want to bring art to every corner of İzmir.” İzBBŞT will perform the play “School of Clowns” at the Bergama Cultural Center on October 22nd. From now on, the City Theaters will hold regular performances in Bergama every month.
