Disaster averted in Maltepe: 11-storey building collapsed during demolition

The incident occurred on Günsel Street in Yalı Neighborhood. According to information received, a section of the 11-story building, which was being demolished as part of urban transformation, suddenly collapsed during the demolition. As a result of the collapse, concrete and debris from the building spilled onto the street, blocking vehicle and pedestrian traffic. The fact that no one was passing during the collapse prevented the disaster. Police and municipal police teams were dispatched to the scene upon notification. The investigation determined that there were no casualties or injuries.

Police teams took precautions by setting up a security cordon around the area. Work has begun to clear the debris scattered on the road, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
