Smoke Release Schedule: When Do New Episodes Come Out?

Where there's fire, there's Smoke. Now streaming on Apple TV+ is Smoke, a hot new crime drama that's sure to set your summer TV binges ablaze. But if you need to get your television appointments in order, you've come to the right place.
Based on the true crime podcast series Firebug, Smoke follows an arson investigator (Taron Egerton) who teams up with a new detective (Jurnee Smollet) to track down serial arsonists who are terrorizing the Pacific Northwest. But tensions heat up when Smollet's Detective Calderon believes her ex-firefighter partner might be more connected to the fires than anyone knows.
Smoke adapts the podcast Firebug, which documents the crimes of convicted serial arsonist John Leonard Orr who is believed to have started over 2,000 fires across a 30-year spree. Orr, who had multiple nicknames based on his M.O.—including Pillow Pyro and Frito Bandito—was also an arson investigator and fire captain for the Glendale Fire Department.
Not coincidentally, Orr wrote the 2002 novel Points of Origin, which happens to tell the story of a fire investigator who leads a double life as an arsonist. The book contains cases that are strikingly similar to real cases Orr was involved in, such as a 1984 fire that destroyed a hardware store and killed several people in South Pasadena. Orr insists his book is a work of fiction.
Orr's lifelong obsession with fire and work with the Glendale FD provided the perfect cover, at least for a time; Orr was arrested in December 1991 and convicted in July 1992. Orr is considered by other fire investigators and one FBI criminal profiler as one of the worst serial arsonists in the 20th century.
If you think we just spoiled Smoke, just know that the show is only inspired by John Leonard Orr and isn't setting out to be an accurate biopic. Regardless of how the series plays out, it's sure to be a hot one.
Smoke began streaming on Apple TV+ on June 27, with the first two episodes premiering at once. The rest of the series will unfold with one episode per week, which should make keeping up with it a lot easier than binge drops. (Ahem, The Bear.)
