London teen dies in drowning at Ipperwash Beach

Police say an 18-year-old from London has died in a drowning at Ipperwash Beach in the Municipality of Lambton Shores.
At about 4 p.m. on Monday, emergency crews responded to reports of two swimmers in distress in Lake Huron near East Parkway Drive.
A 12-year-old from London was safely brought to shore by members of the public and transported to hospital as a precaution.
A second person was found unresponsive and transported to hospital. Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, an 18-year-old from London was pronounced dead at hospital.
That person has not been identified.
The agencies involved in the rescue included the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Anishinabek Police Service, Lambton County Emergency Medical Services, and Lambton Shores Fire and Emergency Services.
It's already been a bad summer for drowning on the great lakes in the London area.
A 35-year-old Woodstock man drowned while swimming at Port Burwell on Lake Erie on June 22.
