Trump security breach as man arrested just hours before arrival

A man has been arrested at Windsor Great Park for flying a drone in airspace that has been restricted for the State Visit of President Donald Trump. The 37-year-old man from Brentford, London was arrested at Windsor Great Park for flying a drone that breached an airspace restriction order. The incident is being investigated under aviation legislation, and the man remains in police custody.

Thames Valley Police said the arrest “serves as a reminder” that airspace restrictions are currently in place for the president's state visit, and any breaches will be dealt with robustly. Between 16 and 18 September, a temporary airspace restriction is in effect over and around Windsor, covering all aircraft, including drones.

Trump arrives with his wife, Melania, on Air Force One today. There, he will be greeted by the foreign secretary, Yvette Cooper, along with Warren Stephens, the US ambassador to the UK, and Viscount Hood, the king’s lord-in-waiting.

The US president will then spend the night at Windsor Castle. There are no public events planned for Tuesday, and Trump will not spend time in London.

Additional airspace restrictions have also been announced over Chequers ahead of the upcoming State Visit in a tough clampdown to prevent a terror attack.
